FROM SAN JOSE AIRPORT TO OCOTAL

The total distance is 235 kilometers and approximately a three to four hour drive. There are restaurants and gas stations along the way. You will be driving northwest on the Pan-American highway (The same road to Liberia). There are many signs to Liberia. Stay on the main road.

FROM LIBERIA TO OCOTAL

Once you arrive to Liberia you will see a traffic light in front of you (the only traffic light in the city), three gas stations (one on each corner) and a Burger King in the north west corner. This is a good place to refill your gas tank. Take a left at the traffic light, and go towards Playas del Coco, Filadelfia and Santa Cruz. Five minutes later, you will see Liberia’s airport on your right, keep driving.

About 7 minutes after the airport you will see a Shell Station on your left hand side on the right is the road entrance to Playas del Coco and Ocotal. Take that right. Stay on the main road. You are now driving towards the coast.

About 10 kilometers later, you will arrive at a intersection on a hill with many signs, follow the main road and take that hill down into Playas del Coco. When entering Playas del Coco, you will be driving along a boulevard. About 300 yards after the boulevard’s end, there is a paved road entrance on your left hand side. Take it, it is the entrance to Playa Ocotal.

You are 3 kilometers from Ocotal Beach Resort. There are Ocotal signs along the road. After crossing the first bridge, take a right. Stay on the main road. About 1 kilometer after the second and last bridge, you will notice that there are fewer houses. Keep driving. If you are driving during the night, there are no streetlights for the last 1.5 kilometers. When approaching Ocotal beach, there is a guarded gate on your left hand side with a large sign that says ´´Ocotal Resort.´´ Drive through the gate and take the first right and you are in Ocotal Resort. Follow the road up the hill to the front desk and lobby area where the staff is eager to welcome you!!!
