Manuel Antonio National Park Tour

Fauna - Flora - Isolated White Sand Beaches

The 3000 acres of the Manuel Antonio National Park is considered one of the most beautiful National Parks of the country. With its white sand beaches, the abundant fauna, exuberant flora, and its scenic footpaths, is one of the most visited in the country. It includes a wooded area, densely populated by monkeys and raccoons, and three exceptionally beautiful beaches, is one of the few areas in which rare squirrel monkey can be found. The footpaths happen through the secondary forest and of the primary forest, dominated by you hoist them of cedar, raft and mangle.

Bring: Comfortable shoes, bathing suit and towel.

Manuel Antonio Horseback Riding Tour

Beautiful horseback ride through the nature paths

Follow your bilingual guide deep into the rain forest to spectacular waterfalls and swimming holes. This tours leaves in the morning and take you up into the mountains north of Manuel Antonio, where your horses are waiting for you. A ride of about 45 minutes takes you to the first waterfall, where you can enjoy fresh fruit juices and snacks served by a local family. You can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river there, or if you feel a little more adventurous, you can follow the guide on a twenty minute hike to the 100 foot waterfall deep into the jungle.

Tortuguero

There are no roads to Tortuguero. The National Park and refuge consist of a vast alluvial floodplain. Located in the extreme northeast of Costa Rica, Tortuguero’s tropical moist to wet forest is accessible only by small plane or boat, along the famous Tortuguero Canals. This system of rivers and man-made channels parallels the coast and cuts through beautiful primary forest.

One of the wettest regions in the country, it is also one of the areas with the greatest biological diversity. The wildlife is rich and varied. It is an excellent area for viewing monkeys, sloths, caimans, and colorful tropical birds. Most exploring is done by small boat in Tortuguero, although some hiking trails are available.

In fact, Tortuguero gets it name from the Spanish word for turtle and is the most important nesting site in the entire western half of the Caribbean for the green turtle. Other species of sea turtles that also nest on the wide beaches of the park and refuge are the leatherback and hawksbill. Simple lodges with homestyle cooking characterize the accommodations of Tortuguero.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is located one hour from San Jose and just 20 minutes from the Poás Volcano. At Waterfall Gardens you will find all that you expect to experience in Costa Rica: lush Rainforests, majestic waterfalls, fluttering butterflies and whimsical hummingbirds.

What should you bring? FILM AND LOTS OF IT!! No, that’s just our prejudiced opinion. (And don’t worry if you don’t bring enough, the are plenty in the gift shop.) We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes (preferably with a thick tread for hiking the trails and hundreds of stairs), shorts or comfortable pants and a lightweight jacket or raincoat. Please keep in mind that the park ranges in altitude from 5,200 feet to 4,200 feet so it can get chilly when the clouds roll in.

Arenal Volcano
Arenal Volcano which rises 5,436 feet above sea level is the most active and no doubt the most studied of all Costa Ricas volcanoes. It booms and rumbles with an unnerving consistency and its nocturnal pyrotechnics have struck awe in the hearts of thousands of observers. With its perfectly conical shape and its continuing activity, Arenal is a picture book image of a volcano. Daily ash columns, underground rumbling, glowing red lava flows and sudden explosions make Arenal a must-see on any tourists itinerary.

Seeing a great nighttime eruption like shown in the posters is a matter of luck due to cloud cover. However, even when the summit of the volcano is covered you can often see the lava flows farther down the side. Occasionally the activity quiets down for a few weeks, but generally it puts on several eruptive displays a day.

This is a beautiful part of Costa Rica and there is plenty to do besides volcano watching.

Arenal Hanging Bridges
Arenal Hanging Bridges is one the most beautiful environmental friendly project in Costa Rica. Located in front of the Arenal Volcano, within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, the trails and bridges of this project will bring you as close as you could ever hope to get to the birds, the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rainforest. Walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges overlooking the canopy and our easy, safe & beautiful trails with views of the Volcano.

The Hanging Bridges project consists of eight (8) fixed bridges, ranging in length between 8 and 22 meters, and six (6) hanging bridges, built with the latest techniques and designed with an eye for both beauty and safety. The hanging bridges are between 48 and 98 meters long. All the bridges are made of galvanized steel and high-strength aluminum. The safety mesh and the suspension cables are all galvanized steel. The entire project was designed to blend with the natural environment, leaving the forest virtually intact.

Tabacon Hot Springs
Bordering the famed Arenal Volcano National Park, Tabacon features a one-of-a-kind setting, allowing visitors to experience the best that Costa Rica has to offer. Enjoy ten warm mineral pools and soak your cares away.

The Tabacon River emanates from deep within the heart of the volcano and its naturally heated waters spring forth at about 102 degrees year round. The thermal waters cascade over intriguing rock formations that create inviting waterfalls and pools of warm, smooth water that soaks away every aching muscle.

We recommend: Towel and swimsuit, walking shoes, sweater or light jacket, binoculars and flashlight.
