Transportation to Honduras/Bay Islands/Roatan
Getting to the Islands is an easy task these days. There are several airlines doing service to Roatan from La Ceiba, and with connections to the rest of the Country. Islena Airlines, Sosa Airlines, Caribbean Air and Rollins Air all serve Roatan. In addition, TACA International Airlines offers direct non stop jet service to Roatan from Miami, Houston and New Orleans.
Once in Honduras, Utila and Roatan have ferry service provided on the M.V. Tropical, this ferry has daily service to the Island from La Ceiba. The trip, which takes less than two hours is comfortable, with air/conditioning, video movies and snack service all being part of the trip.
Roatan has a paved road that connects the most important communities of the Island. Starting from the Western End of the Island, at the community of West End, the roads leads through the communities of Sandy Bay, Coxen Hole, Brick Bay, Mount Pleasant, French Harbour, Oakridge, and Punta Gorda. From here, the road becomes a dirt road and continues east for a distance, to the area of Paya Bay, Camp Bay, Port Royal, and other communities. The Coconut Tree also offers a 4 Wheel Drive Nissan Stanza for rent with air conditioning, automatic or manual for US$ 50.00 per day.
Transportation To West Bay
The Coconut Tree provides water taxi services between West End and West Bay Beach to our guests. Regular water taxi service is available at Fosters Bar on the West End, five minutes from the Coconut Tree West End. Land taxis are plentiful all day and evening for going into town or trying other restaurants on the island. They stop all up and down the West End passing right by in each direction.
